Superintendent finalist for Port Townsend, Chimacum schools to speak

Final candidate to be announced today

PORT TOWNSEND — The third superintendent candidate for Port Townsend School District and the second for Chimacum will be interviewed publicly today.

Linda Rosenbury, a current doctoral resident at Highline Public Schools, will answer questions from stakeholders of both districts and participate in a public forum from 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. before meeting with the school boards.

The Port Townsend School Board, which conducted interviews Monday and Tuesday, has two additional interviews scheduled in executive sessions at 4 p.m. today and at 6 p.m. Thursday, while the Chimacum School Board will interview candidates in executive sessions at 6 p.m. today and at 4 p.m. Thursday.

The school boards will meet in a joint session at 7:30 a.m. Saturday to discuss and possibly select their preferred candidates.

Three of the four are finalists are being considered separately for both districts, while the fourth is being considered just in Port Townsend.

Scott Mauk, principal at Edmonds Heights K-12 Alternative Learning Experience in the Edmonds School District, interviewed with both districts Monday, and Kristie Lindholm, area senior director of the Office of School Performance in Portland Public Schools, interviewed with Port Townsend School District on Tuesday.

The final candidate will be announced today.

Rosenbury has worked in education for 19 years. In her current position, she works closely with the superintendent and district leaders at Highline, and she previously worked as a teacher and a principal, according to a press release from Port Townsend School District.

Rosenbury has a bachelor’s degree from Yale University, a master’s in education from Mercy College and is completing a doctorate of education leadership from Harvard University, according to the press release.

The Port Townsend and Chimacum school boards have agreed to work collaboratively on their concurrent superintendent search processes.

Each district will hire its own superintendent and plans to make its decision before the end of February.
