SEQUIM — A 93-year-old driver was sent to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after a wreck early Saturday morning near Schoolhouse Road.
Originally taken to Olympic Medical Center, Port Angeles, Hazel Gershowitz of Port Angeles was sent to Harborview after the single-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 101 four miles east of Sequim at 2:14 a.m.
Harborview said later Saturday morning that Gershowitz was not in the hospital.
According to the State Patrol, Gershowitz was westbound on Highway 101 when her 2006 Buick Lucerne left the road to its northbound side, went down an embankment, crashed through a barbed-wire fence and came to rest after hitting a large tree.
A passenger in the Buick, identified as H. Chatman, 84, of Port Angeles, also was taken to Olympic Medical Center, which said she had been discharged.
Both women were wearing seat belts, the State Patrol said.
The State Patrol is investigating the cause of the collision.
