OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK — The only delays drivers will encounter on U.S. Highway 101 around Lake Crescent this week will be short ones around milepost 229 for alternating single-lane traffic led by a pilot car during weekday work hours.
Four-hour delays will not resume this week as had been announced earlier, Penny Wagner, Olympic National Park spokesperson, said on Saturday.
Instead they are now planned to resume on Nov. 11.
This week, contractor Strider Construction crews will perform back-filling and work on the guardrail at the area, which does not require stopping traffic for four hours at the time, Wagner said.
The delays were cut short last week to allow concrete pours time to cure.
This is the last work in the three-year, $27.5 million Lake Crescent Highway 101 Rehabilitation Project.
The project is being managed collaboratively by the Federal Highway Administration and the National Park Service.
