SEQUIM — A new voluntary automobile theft prevention program is being introduced by the Police Department.
“The purpose is two-fold,” said Officer Rick Wallace, coordinator of the free program. “We want to prevent auto theft and also reduce the incidents when juveniles might take a friend or relative’s vehicle on a late-night joy ride.”
Wallace said the program involves the owner signing an agreement stating the specific vehicle is not normally operated between the hours of 1 a.m. and 5 a.m.
