SEQUIM — A proposed ordinance extending the north city limit has cleared the Planning Commission.
No opposition to the 46-acre annexation was expressed Tuesday when the commission conducted a public hearing on the proposed draft ordinance.
The Planning Commission voted 5-0 to forward the annexation ordinance to the City Council for a public hearing and possible action.
The City Council will hold a public hearing on the proposal during its 7 p.m. July 23 meeting in the Sequim Community Center, 190 W. Cedar St.
Although the proposed annexation went unopposed, several residents from nearby Deytona Street and Second Avenue expressed concerns that their neighborhood would be annexed.
City Planning Director Richard Hendricksen assured those citizens the neighborhood “is not a part of this annexation.”
