The latest U.S. Census figures released this week show:
* Sequim having the state’s oldest population for incorporated cities, with a median age of 59.3 years among its 4,334 people.
Ironically, that’s younger than the median age recorded by census takers in 1990 — 63.8.
* The median age in Clallam County is 43.8, up from 42.29 recorded in 1990.
* The median age in Jefferson County has increased nearly five years from 42.21 years in 1990 to 47.1 years in 2000.
The new Census figures for the Peninsula mirror the age profiles for the rest of Washington state and the nation.
