PORT ANGELES — A Sequim man has been sentenced to 10 months in the Clallam County jail after being convicted of attacking a man at 7 Cedars Casino.
Paul Taylor, 40, was convicted of felony assault in the second degree and sentenced July 26.
Taylor was observed by witnesses at the casino last September in an unprovoked assault on another patron at the slots, according to documents filed in court.
Surveillance footage confirmed that Taylor appeared to speak to the victim, then followed the victim after he walked away, tackling the man out of a chair and striking him several times in the face with his fist, according to a news release.
The victim suffered severe hearing loss and may need surgery, court records state.
Taylor has prior convictions from California for possession of a controlled substance and burglary, said Deputy Prosecutor Steve Johnson.
His presumptive sentencing range was six to 12 months, according to the release.
