SEQUIM — The response has been “truly heartening,” at times, said Neil Morris, 65.
At other times, it’s been not so positive.
When he and his wife, Suzi, walk through downtown Sequim carrying signs that read, “Patriots Act! Impeach Bush” and “Restore Our Honor: Impeach Bush,” some motorists honk, flash thumbs up and yell, “Thank you.”
There also are those who flash an isolated finger, curse and call out “Get a job,” “Go back to Iraq” or “Four more years.”
The Morrises obtained a “special event” permit from the city of Sequim on March 7, and began carrying their signs on and around the Sequim Avenue-Washington Street intersection soon after.
“What finally precipitated it was a program we caught on C-SPAN,” Neil said.
