Clallam County commissioners are set to purchase a portion of the historic Hyer Farm by June 27.
That’s the day farm’s current owner, the state Department of Transportation, expects the county to decide on accepting the $112,500 asking price for 3 acres of the 40-acre property which is located along the U.S. Highway 101 bypass near Sequim.
Commenting during the regular Monday work session, commissioners appeared to favor the purchase, which has been postponed since December.
Once the farm is purchased, commissioners hope a local artists’ group — Hyer ArtSpace Committee — will find funding to lease and renovate buildings on the farm.
