Rhody Festival seeking court applicants

PORT TOWNSEND — The Rhododendron Festival Association is seeking candidates for its 2020 Rhododendron Festival High School Royalty Court.

Jefferson County 10th-, 11th- and 12th-grade students with a grade point average equal to or above a 2.0 are invited to apply.

The Rhododendron Royalty Court is open to both female and male applicants to fill the roles of queen/king and their court of princesses/princes.

The royalty court is a program that awards scholarships to teens that fullfill the candidate process and are then selected by a panel of judges.

The crowned queen or king will receive a $1,500 scholarship and each princess or prince will receive a $1,000 scholarship.

All scholarships will be awarded after the member’s high school graduation.

Applications are most be post marked or emailed by Oct. 31, and there will be a parent/guardian meeting for participants Nov. 18 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., location to be determined.

Application packets can be picked up at public school’s office or downloaded at rhody festival.org.

Packets should be mailed to Rhody Festival Royalty Committee, P.O. Box 766, Port Townsend or emailed to rhodyfest@gmail.com.

The annual Rhody Festival is on the third full weekend of May.
