Repair projects underway on state Highway 112

NEAH BAY — Contractor crews working for the state Department of Transportation have begun several repair projects on state Highway 112 between Neah Bay and Sekiu.

The project includes the replacement of 10 drainage culverts under the highway between mileposts 0 and 8 that have become clogged and are allowing water to flow over the road surface.

Crews also will be working on embankments at Rasmussen and Jansen creeks, between mileposts 4.7 and 5.4, to repair damage from winter storms in 2022 and 2023.

The work also includes upgrading guardrails to current standards and replacing highway signs between mileposts 0 and 41.

Drivers can expect single-lane, alternating traffic at several locations throughout the fall and again during spring and summer when work resumes.

Contractor crews also will pave seven miles of Highway 112, from east Neah Bay to Sekiu.

Some of the pavement repairs will be completed this fall. The rest of the paving work is scheduled for next summer and fall.

The paving project, which will cost $8 million, will be performed by Lakeside Industries, Inc.
