QUILCENE — Friends of Gregory Callahan remembered the longtime Quilcene resident Monday as a “gentle” person.
The Washington State Patrol continued Monday to investigate Callahan’s hit-and-run death early Sunday as he lay on U.S. Highway 101 next to his house near Lords Lake Loop Road.
“It’s a real tragedy,” said Ken Dressler, who runs the Quilcene Marina and worked on several carpentry jobs with Callahan.
“He was a pretty gentle man, and a good worker.”
Investigators are still trying to track down the car that hit Callahan, 36. An autopsy was performed Monday, but the results haven’t been released yet, Washington State Patrol Trooper Glen Tyrell said.
