PUDs expect to have power fully restored by today

Public utility districts on the North Olympic Peninsula continued to mop up the last remaining power outages on Wednesday.

Clallam County crews hoped to have all customers back online Wednesday evening, with some regaining power after dark, said Nicole Hartman, spokesperson for the Clallam County Public Utility District (PUD).

Jefferson County expected to have power to all customers restored by today, said Will O’Donnell, spokesperson for the Jefferson County PUD.

As of 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jefferson County PUD had 105 customers without power, while Clallam County PUD reported 22 still without electricity.

Power was cut to more than 22,000 customers on the Peninsula during a big blow overnight Friday that pushed trees and branches into power lines and snapped poles. Since then, Monday night’s snowfall caused more outages, especially in the higher elevations.

In Jefferson County, most outages were north of state Highway 104, O’Donnell said.

“We’re going to go through the night again,” he said.

In Clallam County, outages were mostly clustered in the Port Angeles-Sequim areas. Cleanups of isolated outages on Wednesday ranged from Lake Crescent to Agnew.

“We’re still getting outage reports,” Hartman said, “so we could have some more.”
