Property tax payments due Oct. 31

The second half of this year’s property taxes are due by Oct. 31 in Clallam and Jefferson counties.

Mailed payments must be postmarked, put in a drop box or paid online by that Monday to avoid penalty and interest charges.

Taxpayers who want receipts should include their email address to have a receipt emailed to them, or they must include a self-addressed stamped envelope with their payment to receive a hard copy receipt mailed to them.

Taxes can be paid in-person at the Treasurer’s Office at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, or the Clallam County Treasurers’ Office at the courthouse at 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Mailed payments must be postmarked by October 31 to avoid interest charges. Taxpayers should include the statement coupon or write their property tax account number on their check or money order.

Clallam County drop boxes locations are in Port Angeles.

They are the black payment box in the roundabout in front of the main courthouse entrance, accessed from Fourth Street or in the lobby inside the courthouse.

Drop boxes in Jefferson County for payment by check are in the courthouse rear parking lot, the Port Townsend 1st Security Bank of Washington site, the Port Hadlock 1st Security Bank of Washington site or the Port Ludlow Sound Community Bank site.or

Instructions are on the back of the tax statement. The service provider charges a fee.

Electronic checks may be used to make payments.
