PORT TOWNSEND — Jeffery Taylor has resigned his position on the Port Townsend School Board.
He represented District 2.
An appointee to fill out the remainder of Taylor’s term will be chosen by the school board, said LaTrecia Arthur, assistant to the superintendent.
The district has put out application notices for the temporary position, Arthur said, and a replacement is expected to be chosen at the board’s meeting next Thursday.
“We’re hoping it’s somebody that will of course continue to serve,” Arthur said.
The district already has received multiple applications for people looking to serve the remainder of Taylor’s term, Arthur said.
Taylor’s position was already set to be open for re-election this year, and no special election will need to take place.
Candidate filing for the position is May 15-19.
In addition to Taylor’s District 2 seat, Districts 1, 3 and 5 are also open for election, according to the Washington Secretary of State’s office.
