PORT TOWNSEND — Kim Sands was on the heels of completing the Capital City Marathon last year when she decided to compete in the inaugural Live Productions Cross Country fun run.
Just days after running 26.2 miles through Olympia, Sands won the women’s side of the four-mile fun run in 31 minutes, 58 seconds.
This year, that time will be put to the test when the second annual Live Productions race takes place Saturday at Old Fort Townsend State Park.
“I wasn’t even going to run it (last year),” said Sands, 41 and the owner of the Port Townsend Brewing Company.
But a last-minute decision led her to a first-place finish.
“Fort Townsend is a great place to run,” Sands said. “It’s all in the trees and trails.”
Saturday’s race begins and ends at the parade field at the state park.
