WENATCHEE — The Knowledge Bowl team from Port Townsend High School has won consecutive state division 1A Knowledge Bowl championships.
The team, comprised of captain Indigo Gould, Hazel Windstorm, Stuart Dow, Hugh Wentzel, Mateu Yearian and Eli Hill, secured the highest score of any participating school, regardless of division, in the morning rounds.
“It was really fun to see how teams from across the state play,” Windstorm said. “We had an excellent group of people to play with, so it was nice to have a great last experience in knowledge bowl with them.”
The school has won its division title seven times in the 42-year history of the competition.
“Winning one state championship is amazing, two is crazy. I’m super impressed by this team,” coach Benjamin Dow said.
Dow attributed their success not only to the team’s knowledge, but also to their ability to collaborate effectively. Dow also highlighted the importance of the rigorous academic program at Port Townsend High School in preparing the students for the competition.
