PORT TOWNSEND — Health care technicians, physical therapists and pharmacists at Jefferson General Hospital will get raises ranging from 4 percent to 20 percent under a new two-year contract approved last week.
Respiratory therapists will get the biggest wage increase — nearly 20 percent — according to hospital Medical Technologist David Jenkins, who was part of the union bargaining team.
Hospital Human Resources Director Beki Lischalk said the wage increases are based on the hospital’s policy of paying its employees competitive wages.
Both Jenkins and Lischalk said the higher wages are also caused by fewer people entering certain medical fields.
The contract covers approximately 130 of the hospital’s 350 employees.
