PORT TOWNSEND — Nearly twice as many people as hoped for turned out Thursday to be considered as extras in the DreamWorks SKG movie, “The Ring,” to be filmed here next month.
Danny Stoltz, owner of the casting agency Extras Only, decided not to allow any more people in line just 15 minutes after the 6 p.m. call at the Pope Marine Park Building.
He and his assistants had already seen nearly 300 people during a noon casting call.
Stoltz told the crowd they could be called at a moment’s notice and might be needed for two weeks straight. He said their ability to listen and understand directions was of paramount importance.
Less than 24 hours before, Stoltz seemed harried as he put together a last-minute casting call for at least 300 people of all ages, sizes and shapes.
Because of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, filming of “The Ring,” a dark thriller based on a 1998 Japanese movie and directed by Gore Verbinski (“The Mexican”,”Mouse Hunt”) was moved from Boston to the West Coast.
