PORT TOWNSEND — Halloween is just around the corner, with Thanksgiving and Christmas, and all the preparation that goes into them, not far behind.
But this year, Sol Sebastian can hardly wait to get out the decorations.
“We’re really excited to be able to move in by the holidays,” Sebastian said. “It’s always fun to be with family, but now that we have our own house, it’s going to be different.”
The Sebastians — Sol, Heather and their two children, Solomon, 4, and Sophia, 1½ — have been living in rental apartments or with relatives.
But on Sunday, they received the keys to their new house, which they built this summer with the financial and physical help of Habitat for Humanity volunteers.
“This is our 11th house and it’s just as exciting as our first,” said Judge Mark Huth, president of the Habitat board of directors. “We hope to be just as excited about our 100th.”
Huth led Sunday’s dedication ceremony, which was attended by about 40 people, many of them volunteers from local churches who lent a hand in the building.
