Port of Port Townsend plans virtual open public meeting

PORT TOWNSEND — The Port of Port Townsend is working to minimize contact to help slow the spread of COVID-19, including offering commission meetings to the public online and by phone.

Offices are closed to the public although they are available by phone. Beginning Wednesday, March 25, commissioners will conduct virtual open meetings through Zoom Cloud Meetings. Alternatively, members of the public can listen through a phone call.

The commissioners meeting room at 333 Benedict St. also will be open to a small number of the public only during the meeting. Social distancing will be enforced.

Those new to Zoom can find a 1-minute tutorial at here. Desktops, laptops or tablets provide better quality than phones.

A little before 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, people can register in advance here. The meeting ID is 789-140-567.

Those who wish to speak, and who have not already sent in comments, can click “Participants” at the bottom of the screen, then click “Raise Hand.”

Members of the public who lack internet access can listen only by calling at 253-215-8782.

The public is asked to keep away from port yard and maintenance crews in the field when they are working for the next six to eight weeks.

Special arrangements are being made at the Port Townsend Boat Haven Marina and Boat Yard, the Point Hudson Marina and RV Park, the Herb Beck Marina in Quilcene.

Boat ramp fees can be paid at the kiosk at the Boat Haven in Port Townsend or through the fee collection box in Quilcene.

Regular moorage customers will still receive invoices and can make payments via United States Postal Service or by credit card over the phone.
