Port Ludlow Associates CEO to step down

PORT LUDLOW — The president and chief executive officer of Port Ludlow Associates announced his resignation from the development company on Tuesday.

Greg McCarry said he plans to pursue his own real estate development and homebuilding company, called Westerra Homes, after Jan. 20, when his resignation becomes official.

With his wife and business partner, Lani, he will focus on projects in Clallam, Jefferson and Kitsap counties, McCarry said.

The first project for Westerra Homes, called Jennie Meadow, will take place in Sequim and will take shape as a 200-lot development project — 150 lots of single-family homes and 50 lots of attached town houses.

McCarry lives in Port Ludlow and plans to remain there after his resignation.

“I’m very bullish about Port Ludlow,” McCarry said.

“It’s a great place to live, work and play. It’s a stunning environment.”

Master-planned resort

McCarry has held an integral role in the Port Ludlow Master Planned Resort for the past 18 years.

In 1987, McCarry joined Pope Resources that was sold in 2001 to Port Ludlow Associates.

Although Port Ludlow Associates has recently battled in courtrooms over appeals to land development projects spearheaded by McCarry — Olympic Terrace II and Ludlow Cove Division II — McCarry says the legal issues encircling Port Ludlow Associates did not lead to resignation.

The decision was made in June, he said, well before any appeals to the development projects were brought.

He said he planned to stay until the entitlements were completed for the projects.

“It’s just unfortunate that the appeals did occur,” he added.
