PORT ANGELES — Two men were charged Monday with burglary, theft and arson after allegedly taking two city trucks and setting them ablaze.
James Clinton Fearn, 20, and Nathan Eugene Hipshire, 21, are each facing two counts of first-degree theft and second-degree arson, and one count each of second-degree burglary and first-degree malicious mischief, court records show. Both men reside at the Welcome Inn Trailer Park along U.S. Highway 101 West, Port Angeles.
Port Angeles Police Chief Tom Riepe said both Fearn and Hipshire have admitted involvement in the crimes.
The men also told police they were drunk at the time of the alleged thefts and arsons.
“They were both drunk and bored and looking for something to do,” said Ken Ridout, deputy director of operations for the city Public Works Department.
The trucks were taken from the city lot at 1703 S. B St. early Friday morning, court records show.
