The workshop will help potential applicants for lodging tax grants to better understand the application process.
Topics will include how lodging tax funds may be used, what types of organizations may apply, how funds are awarded and other requirements such as contract terms and the reimbursement process.
The application process has significantly changed this year so even organizations that frequently apply for lodging tax grants may wish to attend the workshop.
Changes include:
• Aligning application definitions to more closely to match those in RCW 67.28.080.
• Streamlining funding categories into capital expenditures of tourism-related facilities owned or operated by a municipality or a public facilities district and tourism-related marketing and operations of special events and festivals.
• Combining funding priorities into a single section.
• Adding priorities for various types of marketing and a visitor center.
• Removing event funding caps.
• Adding a list of high priorities that align with Clallam County’s guidance for committee members.
• Providing guidance on specific requirements for prevailing wage and reporting.
• Reduce the review criteria categories to match the funding categories.
• Standardize the use of excess reserve funds.
• Allow for an additional round of budget awards in the next year if the budget and remaining excess reserves are not fully allocated in the first round of funding.
