PORT ANGELES — The winning attitude of Hamilton Elementary School physical education teacher Krista Winn has made her the Northwest’s best.
Winn was selected as this year’s top elementary physical fitness educator in the Northwest district by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education.
The district includes Washington, Alaska, Idaho, Montana and Oregon.
Winn, who has worked with the Port Angeles School District for 16 years, refers to her students as “winners,” and said she helps them set personal goals to monitor their own success versus competing against other students.
“I expect everyone to have an ‘I’ll try’ attitude,” Winn said in a statement released by the school district.
Winn could not be reached for comment on Monday as she was headed to the National Association for Sport and Physical Education’s conference in Salt Lake City, Utah.
