PORT ANGELES — School board members said they were surprised by the resignation last week of Dr. George Woodruff as school superintendent.
“It was a shock,”‘ said Kevin Synder.
“(But) I think it’s wonderful that George will be able to spend more time with his family.”
Said the school board’s president, Charles McClain: “I’m very sad. George has been a wonderful guy to work with.”
School board members will start their search for a new leader on Monday, McClain said.
The board will meet in executive session to discuss their options. The school district has 4,900 students and a $33 million budget.
The executive session will likely occur near the end of Monday’s school board meeting, scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. at Fairview Elementary School.
