Port Angeles schools schedule their spring concerts

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles School District’s spring end-of-year music concerts are in full swing, beginning with Port Angeles High School band and orchestra concerts tonight and Wednesday.

The school’s wind ensemble and concert bands will perform at 7:30 p.m. today in the Port Angeles High School auditorium, 304 E. Park Ave.

The music continues Wednesday as the state champion Port Angeles High School Chamber Orchestra, led by champion violinist Erin Hennessey, and other school orchestras will perform at 7:30 p.m., also in the high school auditorium.

The chamber orchestra and Hennessey received their titles in April after competing at the 2012 Washington Interscholastic Activities Association’s State Solo and Ensemble Contest.

Admission to concerts is free, though donations are appreciated.

On Thursday, the Stevens Middle School orchestras will play at 7:30 p.m. in the Stevens Middle School gymnasium, 1139 W. 14th St.

Also on Thursday, Jefferson Elementary School kindergarten-through-second-grade music program participants will perform at 6:30 p.m. in the Jefferson gymnasium, 218 E. 12th St.

Jefferson Elementary School students will perform the musical “Make a Difference” by Theresa Jennings, featuring performances from students in grades 3-5.

The musical will be 6:30 p.m. May 29 in the Jefferson Elementary Gym,

All donations raised through admissions will be given to the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society.

Port Angeles High School will present a musical dinner show at 6 p.m. June 1-2 at the Elks Naval Lodge, 131 E. First St.

Admission is $25. Tickets are now available through the Elks Club, Strait Music and at Port Angeles High School.

Other concerts include:

— May 30: Franklin Elementary School kindergarten-through-second-grade music program will perform at 6:30 p.m. in the Jefferson Elementary School gym.

— June 4: All District Sixth Grade Band concert, 7 p.m. in the Roosevelt Elementary School gym, 106 Monroe Rd.

– June 5: Stevens Middle School Band concert, 7:30 p.m. in the Stevens Middle School gym

– June 6: Stevens Middle School Choir concert, 6:30 p.m. in the Stevens Middle School Gym.

– June 6: Port Angeles High School Jazz and Percussion Concert, 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium

– June 7: Franklin and Jefferson Choir concert, 6:30 p.m. in the Franklin Elementary gym, 2505 S. Washington St.

– June 7: Port Angeles High School Choir concert, 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium

– June 11: Hamilton Elementary music concert, grades 1-3, 6:30 p.m. in the Hamilton Elementary gym, 1822 W. Seventh St.
