PORT ANGELES — More than 200 supporters rolled around Jalis’ Skate Station on Sunday during a fund-raiser for 8-year-old Forks twins Jill and Jessica Henry.
The girls are both fighting leukemia at Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center in Seattle.
“They’re doing pretty well,” said Jill and Jessica’s mother, Katrina, who has been with the girls at the hospital since Dec. 18.
She has only come home to Forks for two days since then.
While Jessica received a bone marrow transplant — a key step in recovery from the cancer disease — on Feb. 1, Jill still awaits her operation.
Katrina Henry said the girls are staying in separate rooms, allowing her and her husband, Mike, to each stay in a room.
While the girls’ pain “goes in spurts,” they enjoy reading lots of mail from supportive friends, Mrs. Henry said.
Jessica passes the time by painting and playing games, while Jill plays cards and games.
Jill was diagnosed with leukemia in October and Jessica was diagnosed Dec. 20.
