The Port Angeles International Gateway Transportation Center’s price — now proposed at $11.5 million — is still without a final design that satisfies city, Clallam Transit and downtown Port Angeles business leaders.
Meanwhile Monday, the Clallam Transit System board — meeting in Sequim — was asked by Bellevue-based architects Merritt + Pardini to raise by $27,586 its bill for architectural, engineering and construction review services on the Gateway Center.
That brings the project’s total design costs to $251,032, a figure that drew objections from Clallam Transit board members and city of Port Angeles leaders.
“We need to be running the project, not the architects,” said Port Angeles City Councilwoman Karen Rogers, before the transit board approved the architect’s request.
