PORT ANGELES — The next Port of Port Angeles executive director will not be offered the same severance package as Christine Anderson received when she resigned the post.
On Monday, Port commissioners voted unanimously not to use her severance package as part of an agreement for hiring a new executive director.
Commissioner Leonard Beil proposed the board develop a severance package “from scratch.”‘
“I felt the last package was completely excessive,” Beil said following Monday’s meeting.
According to Beil, if commissioners had fired Anderson, they would have had to pay her more than $125,000 because of her severance package.
Beil said her package called for nine months pay and one additional month for each year of Port employment.
