PORT ANGELES — Whether a man banned “indefinitely” from the William Shore Memorial Pool three years ago will be allowed to return will be decided at the April 11 meeting of the Port Angeles Park and Recreation Advisory Committee.
George Snyder of Port Angeles requested reinstatement of his pool privileges last month.
The pool staff suspended Snyder’s pool privileges “indefinitely” in October of 1998 following complaints from women about him using a swimming mask to stare at them underwater.
The incidents also lead to an addition to the pool rules prohibiting “unnecessary staring, following or intentionally viewing others underwater with masks or goggles.”
Snyder appealed the staff’s decision to the park and recreation advisory committee, which upheld the suspension in January of 1999.
Snyder has swam at the Sequim Activities and Recreation Center since then.
