PORT ANGELES — The son of a local man has been identified among the remains of Marines killed in action near Nasiriyah, Iraq.
The U.S. Marine Corps confirmed Saturday that the body of 23-year-old U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Brendon Reiss had been recovered.
His father, 60-year-old Brian Reiss of Port Angeles, said he learned late Friday night that his son’s body was identified by officials using DNA comparisons in Dover, Del.
“Last night at about 10:15 p.m., we were contacted by two Marines officers and a Navy chaplain from Bremerton,” he said Saturday. “They confirmed Brendon’s body had been identified.”
Sgt. Reiss’ wife, Tensley, was notified at about 1 a.m. Saturday.
