PORT ANGELES — City and business leaders listened in stunned silence Thursday as California developer Jerry Ward boldly rolled out his mammoth proposal to revive a once sooty pulp mill site with an elaborate timeshare condominium resort.
An exotic water park and aquarium — even a mothballed aircraft carrier moored at the pier — would complement the proposed $120 million-plus project, which Ward estimated would begin construction in 2005.
While many in the audience of about 40 at the Port Angeles CrabHouse Restaurant expressed delight over the proposals, many were cautious about a project of such magnitude.
