PORT ANGELES — Karen Rogers is Port Angeles’ new mayor, City Council members decided Tuesday, and Larry Williams is deputy mayor.
Rogers, 47, a self-employed marketing and government-affairs consultant, took over the largely parliamentary post from Richard Headrick, who lost his bid for re-election in the Nov. 8 general election to new Councilwoman Betsy Wharton.
She is the city’s third female mayor, following Dorothy Duncan, who held the post in the early 1980s, and Joan Sargent, who was mayor in the early 1990s.
Williams, 59, an associate real estate broker with Carroll Realty, replaced Gary Braun in the deputy mayor’s position.
Braun remains on the council.
