PORT ANGELES — The City Council appears closer to major animal control law revisions and new motorized foot scooter regulations.
Council members Monday afternoon were pitched on both proposals by Police Chief Tom Riepe and others.
The council will hear more presentations on the ordinances again at its Nov. 1 meeting before considering whether to adopt them.
But some council members noted that both the animal control revisions and scooter ordinance appeared to merit approval.
The proposed animal control ordinance will include sections regulating inherently dangerous animals and prohibiting hunting inside the city limit, Riepe said.
Some misdemeanors also will be changed to civil infractions, and lifetime licenses for dogs and cats will be available in exchange for the animal being neutered or spayed and having a microchip implanted, he said.
It was written to conform with the county’s newly revised animal control ordinance, he said.
