The city of Port Angeles, says Mike Quinn, has “a pretty big to-do list” of projects for 2002 — including the Gateway transit center, downtown conference center and development of the Del Guzzi property.
Quinn, the city manager, went through his list Monday at the Chamber of Commerce’s noon luncheon meeting.
Quinn also said the city had repairs and more vegetation planned for the new Francis Street Park — its hillsides down to the Waterfront Trail were badly eroded by recent rains.
There are also plans to stabilize the Laurel Street slope.
In addition, the city plans to try to “smooth out” the recent repaving of Eighth Street with a sealant — though Quinn warned that gaps between the concrete slabs used in the project will always result in minor vibrations to motorists.
The proposed conference center and the $4.5 million Gateway transit center will be major projects anchoring opposite ends of the downtown area, Quinn said.
