PORT ANGELES — Ehm Architecture’s Oak Street conference center proposal was the unanimous choice of the Port Angeles City Council on Tuesday night.
“I’m very excited at the opportunity to participate in this project,” the company’s owner, architect Randal Jay Ehm, told the council.
He already has four potential investors standing by to fund the project, Ehm said.
He said he is ready to begin promoting the facility immediately and will open a local office within three weeks.
Once Ehm receives a certified letter from the city that his proposal was picked, a 45-business day “due diligence” period will begin for the city to examine the project’s financing and marketing plan.
Ehm Architecture, which has offices in Seattle and San Diego, has proposed building a $14 million, 154-room downtown hotel and conference center on 3.75 waterfront acres at the foot of Oak Street.
