PORT TOWNSEND — Police still don’t know the name of a man with a prosthetic left hand who died in Kah Tai Lagoon Nature Park last week.
The body of the man, believed to be in his 60s, was found March 17 in a campsite with tarps and a sleeping bag.
The Caucasian man was balding, with gray hair. He weighed about 130 pounds, and was about 5-feet-7-inches tall.
“Anyone who knows anything — a name, a nickname, who he hung out with, anything at all — please contact us,” said Port Townsend Police Sgt. Ed Green.
The cause of the man’s death remains undetermined.
Police said last week that they did not suspect foul play, and that drugs or alcohol did not contribute to what they believe was a fatal medical ailment.
Green said that police had been in contact with the man in the past, but never in connection with a criminal complaint — and so no personal identification had been collected.
“We had only been in contact with him for a very short period of time, maybe a month,” Green said.
“We believe he was relatively new to the area.”
