PORT ANGELES — A pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle Tuesday night on U.S. Highway 101 east of Port Angeles remained in critical condition Thursday evening at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Kassandra D. Crooks, 25, of Port Angeles failed to obey the crosswalk signal at the busy Highway 101- South Brook Avenue intersection when she was struck by a 2003 Chevy Suburban driven by a Sequim resident, according to a State Patrol memo.
Crooks was transported to Olympic Medical Center before being transferred to Harborview, the State Patrol said.
The driver of the vehicle, Jessica A. Larsson, 27, was driving eastbound Tuesday night on Highway 101 when she hit Crooks, calling in the collision at 9:58 p.m., according to the State Patrol.
Larsson, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not hurt, the State Patrol said.
Her vehicle was damaged by the impact.
The State Patrol said Crooks was issued an infraction for failure to yield at a crosswalk signal after she ran across Highway 101, which at that location is five lanes, including a turning lane.
