PORT ANGELES — A 68-year-old woman was killed and two people were flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Monday following a two-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 101 near the junction of state Highway 112.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to the top of the Elwha Hill on Highway 101 about 2:20 p.m.
A van driven by Timothy A. Williams, 19, of Port Angeles was eastbound on Highway 101 when it collided in the westbound lane with a Subaru Legacy driven by Barbara D. Mead, 68, also of Port Angeles, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Mead was declared dead at the scene.
William F. Mead, 75, a passenger in the Subaru, was reportedly in surgery late Monday at Harborview, where his condition was listed as critical.
Williams was taken to Olympic Memorial Hospital in Port Angeles, then flown to Harborview, where he was listed in serious condition late Monday night.
