PORT TOWNSEND — Joy in Mudville will perform at Fort Flagler State Park on Sept. 4.

The free concert will be at 5 p.m. at the Henery Bankhead.

Beverages and snacks will be available. Proceeds will support the Friends of Fort Flagler.

Joy in Mudville combines influences from old-time bluegrass, folk, rock, country, blues and funk.

A Discover Pass is needed for entrance to the park.

Free popcorn

PORT ANGELES — Anyone who donates a pair of used eyeglasses at the Port Angeles Lions Club food booth during the Clallam County Fair, scheduled today through Sunday, will receive a free bag of popcorn.

The food booth is located next to the grandstand.

All donations are acceptable — prescription glasses, readers, sunglasses, broken glasses and plastic frames.

Children’s glasses are especially needed.

Car show

PORT TOWNSEND — The Port Townsend Kiwanis Club will hold its 27th annual Classic Car Show at Memorial Field on Saturday.

Gates will open to the public at 9 a.m.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children 12 and younger.

Veterans are admitted free.

Funds from the show benefit the local club’s programs, which focus on children.

Owners of cars from 1980 and older can preregister now for $15 or register the day of for $20.

The show offers both stock and modified categories of cars and trucks, which are separated into decades for exhibitors’ judging purposes, who will also vote for Best of Show.

The public votes for their favorites in the People’s Choice areas of Work in Progress, Specialty/Novelty, Motorcycle, Paint Job, Convertible, Friendliest Owner and Overall People’s Choice.

The awards will be handed out at 3 p.m. that day, with the Rhododendron Festival royalty assisting with the awards presentation.
