PORT TOWNSEND — Trinity United Methodist Church, 609 Taylor St., will host a concert featuring cellist Madelyn Kowalski at 7 tonight.

This is the sixth concert in the ongoing Candlelight Concert Series for Kowalski, 18, of Marrowstone Island.

Admission is a suggested donation of $10, with children admitted free.

Kowalski will be accompanied by pianist Lisa Lanza, who has worked with Kowalski as both accompanist and collaborator for the past eight years.

The program features Dvorak’s Cello Concerto in B minor, followed by Beethoven’s Sonata for Cello and Piano No. 3 in A major.

Proceeds will benefit various nonprofits operating in Port Townsend, as well as the church’s music and historic Victorian restoration programs.

Clallam Mosaic

PORT ANGELES — The July donation of $3,053.58 for Clallam Mosaic marked a record amount Jig and Lure Fish Co. restaurant donated.

“Our customers have been so generous to help make these donations possible. We have been so fortunate to have amazing customers who care about helping the Port Angeles community as much as we do,” said restaurant co-owner Stephen Fofanoff.

The restaurant for the past 3½ months has donated 100 percent of tips to nonprofits based in and serving Clallam County.

The program launched in April.

“Each month, our employees choose which organization the tips will be donated to. The staff and our customers share in the excitement of seeing how much we can raise to help these nonprofits,” Fofanoff said.

Clallam Mosaic relies on grant dollars for 20 percent to 40 percent of its budget.

Executive Director Priya Jayadev said these donations are critical.

“The money donated by the restaurant goes directly into supporting the delivery of day programs to individuals with developmental disabilities — paying for instructor salaries and curriculum materials,” she said.
