SEQUIM — BNI, an international networking organization specializing in business referrals among its members, welcomes businesses to its weekly meeting for the chapter currently forming in Sequim.

BNI is a way for businesses to experience growth by maximizing their marketing efforts through word-of-mouth advertising, according to a news release.

Anyone from the Olympic Peninsula interested in attending a meeting is welcome; only one person per profession in each chapter is accepted.

Meetings are every Wednesday for lunch from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at Nourish Restaurant, 101 Provence View Lane.

Unity talk set

PORT ANGELES — Unity in the Olympics, 2917 E. Myrtle St., will host guest speaker Cate Montana at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service.

Her lesson will be “The Heart of the Matter Part II: The Spiritual Ego & Enlightenment.”

Montana is an author and presenter from the Olympia area who speaks at conferences and spiritual centers on a variety of spiritual topics.

A time for silent meditation will be held from 10 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.

Child care is available during the service.

PORT ANGELES — Olympic Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 73 Howe Road, will host Joseph Bednarik to speak at the 10:30 a.m. fellowship Sunday.

Bednarik’s topic,”Ecstasy and the Psychology of Joy!,” is taken from Jungian analyst Robert Johnson who writes that ecstasy “was once considered a favor of the gods, a ‘trans-formative fire’ that could obliterate barriers and provide a greater understanding of the universe.”

Bednarik serves as the assistant to the minister in the pulpit at Quimper Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Port Townsend.

He studied philosophy at Haverford College and has worked in literary publishing for over 20 years.

Spiritual discussion

SEQUIM — A spiritual discussion, “The Temple Within,” will take place in the Sequim Library’s Meeting Room, 630 N. Sequim Ave., at 10 a.m. Sunday.

All are welcome to the free program.

“The Temple Within” focuses on getting quiet and going within, which is a challenge for some people and easy for others, according to a news release.

“What works for each person is as unique as our own fingerprint,” according to a new release. “In the first half of this discussion, we will explore what attendees have learned from their own personal experience. In the second half, we will experiment with uplifting techniques to quiet the mind and engage the creative imagination.”

Hu song slated

SEQUIM — A Community Hu Song will take place in the Sequim Library’s Meeting Room, 630 N. Sequim Ave., at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

All are welcome to the free program.

In a small-group setting, participants chant “hu” (pronounced “hue”) in a long, drawn-out sound.

They continue for up to 20 minutes, followed by five minutes of silent contemplation.

Church in the Woods

PORT HADLOCK — Community United Methodist Church will hold outdoor services each Wednesday evening at 6 p.m., led by Pastor Scott Rosekrans.

The public is invited to attend the Brown Bag Gospel: Church in the Trees service at 130 Church Lane.

The service will be held in the outdoor chapel in the trees.

A social hour that includes refreshments will start at 6 p.m., followed by a short service with music, prayers and fellowship from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The public is invited.
