Today is the final day for two weeks to get cars and trucks from Port Angeles to Victoria because the MV Coho goes out of service starting Monday.
Owner Black Ball Transport Inc. will sail the 46-year-old ferry to a Seattle shipyard for its annual maintenance. The Coho is scheduled to resume service Feb. 5, with its first departure to Victoria at 8:20 a.m.
The only way to get vehicles from the North Olympic Peninsula to Victoria before then will be to drive to B.C. Ferries landings in the Vancouver area. The Anacortes-to-Sidney, British Columbia, service of Washington State Ferries is on winter hiatus.
The passenger ferry Victoria Express will operate between Port Angeles and Victoria on Jan. 27-29 and Feb. 3-5, with Port Angeles departure at 8:30 a.m. and Victoria departure at 4 p.m.
