Motorcyclist dies of injuries after collison with deer

Port Angeles man succumbs en route to Seattle hospital

PORT ANGELES — A motorcyclist who collided with a deer Monday afternoon south of Port Angeles died from his injuries while being airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Scott D. Edwards, 60, of Port Angeles was traveling southbound on his 2007 Harley Davidson shortly before 4 p.m. in the 5000 block of South Old Mill Road when he hit the deer, Clallam County Sheriff’s Sgt. John Keegan said.

A female motorist who witnessed the collision call 9-1-1 and administered cardio-pulmonary resuscitation before the arrival of deputies and personnel from Clallam County Fire District 2 and Olympic Ambulance.

Edwards was transported to Olympic Medical Center before dying en route to Harborview at 5:50 p.m., Keegan said Tuesday morning.

The deer died at the scene.

The sheriff’s office Traffic Safety Unit is investigating the crash.

Further information on the collision was unavailable Tuesday.
