SEQUIM — One juvenile was transported to Harborview Medical Center early Sunday morning following a vehicle crash north of Sequim.
First responders with Clallam County Fire District 3 and the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office reported a four-door sedan drove off the road just before 1:30 a.m. Sunday at the 100 block of Griffith Farm Road.
The reporting party called 9-1-1 because there was a vehicle with lights on in the yard, said Chief Criminal Deputy Amy Bundy with the Sheriff’s Office.
Sequim Police Department personnel were the first to arrive on scene and were advised a juvenile female sustained significant injuries.
She was transported from the Sequim helipad via Life Flight to Harborview Medical Center and was classified as a “red” patient with possible life-threatening injuries, according to Battalion Chief Stef Anderson with Clallam County Fire District 3.
Due to privacy provisions for minors, her condition and age is unknown at this time, Harborview Medical Center and first responders said.
Three other juveniles did not require immediate medical attention or they denied transport to a hospital from the fire district, Anderson said.
Preliminary investigation suggests the vehicle was traveling above the speed limit when it failed to negotiate a corner and hit a tree, Bundy said. The collision deployed the vehicle’s air bags.
This investigation is currently ongoing and active, law enforcement officials said.
