FORKS — A 33-year-old Forks man was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Wednesday after the minivan he was driving collided with a fully-loaded log truck west of Forks, the State Patrol said.
Devere W. Sanchez was in satisfactory condition on Thursday, according to a Harborview spokesperson.
The driver of the log truck, David E. Beebe, 68, also of Forks, was not hurt.
Troopers said Sanchez’s 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan was westbound on state Highway 110 — La Push Road — when he crossed the center line as he negotiated a curve and collided with the Peterbuilt log truck traveling eastbound near milepost 2 at about 10:54 a.m.
The roadway remained fully blocked until about 6:19 p.m., according to the State Patrol.
“When we have a larger injury collision in addition to a larger vehicle, these scenes always take a while,” said Trooper Jessica Schob, a State Patrol spokesperson, Wednesday afternoon.
The logs did not spill in the crash and were later moved to a different log truck, the State Patrol said.
