PORT LUDLOW — Area residents are at odds with Port Ludlow Associates LLC over a proposed membership plan which could lead to expensive deposits for the golf and marina clubs’ members.
During a town meeting Wednesday, residents voted overwhelmingly to reject the proposed membership plan. And the Village Council unanimously opposed Port Ludlow Associates’ financing plans for golf course improvements.
Under the Port Ludlow Associates proposal, current and new club members could pay deposits of as much as $22,500 to finance a new clubhouse and other improvements.
While community members generally agree there is a need to replace the 30-year-old The Club at Ludlow Bay, they are upset by the plan they say puts money in the hands of Port Ludlow Associates with no guarantee of a new clubhouse.
“You can’t believe how upset people are with the situation,” Village Councilman Olly Gardner said last week. “Some people are thinking of boycotting activities here.”
