PORT TOWNSEND — A Bellingham consultant will be the new executive director of the Jefferson County Economic Development Council, the EDC board decided unanimously on Friday.
Tamer Kirac, 51, currently is a consultant with Northern Economics in Bellingham but previously was executive director of the Mid-Columbia Economic Development District, which served two counties in Washington and three others in Oregon.
“I think it will be exciting,” Kirac told the board after the vote.
His hiring was the second since former executive director Ann Avary resigned last December.
Marty Gay has acted as interim director during that time and will remain until Kirac starts work Oct. 1.
