Washington’s Feb. 19 presidential party preference primary began quietly on Jan. 18 in Clallam County with the mailing of 250 military and overseas ballots ballots worldwide.
But the heavy lifting begins Wednesday, when ballots will be mailed for the Feb. 19 statewide presidential preference primary.
On Wednesday, 43,500 primary ballots will be mailed to Clallam County voters, county Auditor Patty Rosand said.
She projects a 50 percent turnout, while her counterpart in Jefferson County, Donna Eldridge expects a 37 percent voter turnout.
Also this week, state-produced voters pamphlets will be available at the county courthouse and mailed to every household in the state.
Voters must postmark primary ballots by Feb. 19 or drop them off by 8 p.m. that day in drop-boxes or the county courthouse.
Voters in Clallam County will receive a single consolidated ballot with the Republican and Democratic slate on it to save on election costs, Rosand said.
